Tastings shaped around your occasion
From a relaxed evening at home to a structured corporate session, our hosted tastings are planned to suit the pace and purpose of your event. We work with small groups, larger gatherings and mixed audiences, so the session feels easy to follow and enjoyable for everyone present.
Some hosts want a social introduction to local wines. Others need something more focused, like a pairing evening, a team activity or a celebration with a clear theme. We help you choose the right style, then match the wines, sparkling options and format to the setting.
How to choose the right tasting style
If you are unsure where to start, think about three things first: who is attending, how much time you have, and whether the event should feel relaxed or more guided. A beginner-friendly workshop works well for mixed groups, while a bubbly masterclass or food pairing dinner gives guests a more detailed experience.
- Choose private home tastings for birthdays, anniversaries and intimate gatherings.
- Choose corporate tasting events for staff functions, client hosting or year end socials.
- Choose virtual group tastings if guests are spread across different towns or provinces.
- Choose seasonal tasting evenings when you want a fresh theme and a clear social focus.
Popular hosted tasting formats
Our hosted tastings cover a broad range of occasions, from casual get togethers to polished business events. Each format can be adapted for the size of your group, the venue and the level of detail you want. For some events, the wine is the main feature. For others, it is part of a wider evening with food and conversation.

Where we host across South Africa
We host tastings in Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Cape Town, Paarl, Somerset West and Constantia, as well as in Johannesburg and Durban. Our village base in Franschhoek keeps us close to the heart of the Cape wine area, while our wider reach makes it easier to plan events for teams and families in other centres too.
We know that venues differ. Coastal spaces may need extra care for humidity, while offices and homes can be affected by load-shedding or limited prep time. We plan the setup with that in mind, so the evening still runs smoothly and your guests stay focused on the tasting rather than the logistics.
What happens at a Ching Ching Cellar event
Every hosted tasting is handled with clear timing and practical guidance. We explain the wines, help guests compare flavour and style, and keep the discussion lively without making it feel formal or stiff. When food is included, the pairings are selected to suit the menu and the tone of the evening.
- Arrival and welcome for your guests
- Guided tasting of selected wines or sparkling beverages
- Conversation around aroma, flavour, texture and style
- Optional food pairing or themed activity
- Wrap up with space for questions and favourites
For clubs, teams and celebration planners
Our hosted tastings suit more than private celebrations. They also work well for staff team building, client entertainment, club pop up events and wedding wine planning. If you are organising a business function, we can keep the session professional and well timed. If it is a family celebration, we can keep it warm, social and easy for guests of different ages and experience levels.
Ching Ching Cellar was founded in 2013 and is led by Lwazi Mthembu, with support from a team that handles membership, event coordination, wine selection, delivery, customer care and our Cellar Journal. That mix of experience helps us keep each booking organised from first enquiry to final pour.
Planning your next hosted tasting
Once you know your date, venue and guest count, the rest becomes much simpler. Tell us what kind of evening you want, whether you are hosting in a home, office, venue or online, and we will guide you to the best tasting format. If you prefer something light and social or more structured and educational, we will help shape it around your group.
Use the enquiry form on our contact page to start planning your hosted tasting, and we will come back with the next steps. It is a straightforward way to bring people together over well chosen South African wines and sparkling drinks, without the stress of trying to manage every detail yourself.
